Exterior Cladding, Trim & Fastener Package

Exterior cladding, trim, and fastener packages are required to complete the door installation. For your convenience, we can supply these packages and have them shipped together with the door. You also have the option of having them supplied with the building package to guarantee color and profile matching with the building.

Sheeting:

Sheeting supplied with the door has the following specifications:

Profile:             Profit

Gauge:            29 ga.

Rib Depth:       5/8”

Coverage:       36” C. to C. of ribs

 Westman

Can-American

For more details on this sheeting and available color options, see the links above.

When ordering sheeting from your supplier, be sure to subtract .25” to .38” from the door section height to get the actual sheeting cut length. This difference is required for adequate trim clearance and proper door operation.

For more details on this sheeting and available color options, see the attached specification sheet. Other profiles and clear polycarbonate sheeting are also available on special order.

Trims:

Only two trim profiles are required on our “S” style doors (Drip Cap and J-Trim). “I” style doors use these in combination with a larger variation of the same trims to accommodate the added thickness of insulation.

 Fasteners:

TEK Screws are used to fasten the sheeting and trims to the door frame. These screws have a self drilling point to penetrate into the steel frame. “S” style doors require a ¾” long screw, and “I” style doors use a combination of ¾” and 2”. Screws are available in a variety of colors to match the sheeting.

TEK screw sizes:
¾” x   #12/14
2”   x   #12/14

If you prefer to supply your own fasteners, these are the quantities you will require:

“S” Style Door:

¾” = (15 x Clear Opening Width) + (2.5 x Clear Opening Height)

“I” Style Door:

¾” = (4.5 x Clear Opening Width) + (2.5 x Clear Opening Height)
2” = (10.5 x Clear Opening Width)

The above quantities are based on a “20 screws per sheet” count, which amounts to 5 screws per row. Although some installers prefer to use only 4 screws per row, using the above formula’s will provide adequate fasteners, regardless of the installation method. Also note, the formula’s are only valid for doors ranging from 13’ to 20’ of clear opening height. If your door size does not fall within this range, simply call the factory and they will provide the quantities you’ll require. Also keep in mind that the quantities are calculated based on covering the basic door frame, and do not account for any options which may require additional fasteners (walk-in door, windows, etc.).

Example: 30’ x 16’ Clear Opening Door (“I” Style)

¾” = (4.5 x 30) + (2.5 x 16) = 135 + 40 = 175

            2” = (10.5 x 30) = 315
